In which industry does your company operate?
Hundert24 GmbH is active in the events industry and organizes the largest long-distance hiking series in Europe called “Megamarsch”. There are two formats in Germany, Austria and Spain: a 100 kilometer walk in 24 hours or a 50 kilometer walk in 12 hours. The entire marketing, planning, implementation and evaluation of the events is performed by Hundert24 GmbH. In 2019, the Megamarsch had more than 32,000 participants, divided over 16 events. Megamarsch Hamburg 2019 holds the current record with 4,500 registrations.
Since 2019, Hundert24 GmbH is part of the leading international sports marketing group Infront. Infront is known for the marketing of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and as a former parent company of the IronMan Triathlon event series.
How many employees do you employ and what are their qualifications?
Our company currently employs 17 people in the areas of Event Organization, Marketing and Human Resource Management. Our colleagues have various professional qualifications in International Leisure-, Tourism- and Event management. We are currently training 4 dual students in the field of Communication & Event management and Sports Business Management. In addition, 2 working students are designing a new corporate identity and one employee takes care of the finances.
Currently, we also employ 4 interns. In general, we make several internships available every semester. The interns are an integral part of the team. During your internship at Team Megamarsch you support us with the implementation of events, our presence on social media and other organizational tasks.
Which innovations are characteristic of your company?
Hundert24 GmbH was the first company to market the concept of a 100-kilometer march through Germany as a brand (“Megamarsch”). Our events continue to develop and as a result there are now a total of 18 Megamarches in Germany, Austria and Spain.We are a fast growing, young company and therefore very flexible. Thanks to the horizontal organizational structure, every employee has the opportunity to actively contribute and to work independently.
What is the role of the border within your company?
Our office is located in Mönchengladbach, which belongs to the border region. Since 2017, we regularly hire students from the Fontys International Business School in Venlo as interns, as our two founders also studied there. Because our team consists of several employees who have studied at different colleges in the Netherlands, the border is not an issue to us. Unfortunately, we have not yet organized cross-border events and we are not represented on the Dutch market, but we are always open to new challenges.
What kind of employees are you looking for?
Every semester we hire several interns in the field of Online Marketing, Sports & Event Management and Communication Design. We are always looking for motivated young people who want to perform responsible tasks and who want to develop themselves. We also love it when someone comes up with new ideas to help the Megamarsch move forward.
What is the impact of the corona crisis on your company?
Hundert24 GmbH is one of the few companies in the events industry that has managed to save its employees from working time shortages through our own strength and innovations. Thanks to our do-it-yourself event “Megamarsch Spezial #wirgehtweiter” and our new Megamarsch Family Edition, we do not need emergency funding and we can continue to work together as a team.
Like all other major events, our Megamarch events are banned until August 31st and had to be postponed or canceled during this period. However, we look forward to the event season after August 31 and expect a successful autumn.
